《Vol. 127》 Managing Emerging Risks: Issue Analysis & Policy Directions
Recently, there has been a rise in accidents and disasters due to a myriad of risk factors stemming from technological, societal, economic and environmental changes, often characterized by their unpredictability. There's a growing demand for proactive management of these emerging risks, and policy-wise, efforts are underway to consistently identify and anticipate these risks across various government levels. Local research on emerging risks started to gain momentum in the mid-200s, with a significant surge following the outbreak of COVID-19. Throughout the globe, numerous studies and risk reports associated with emerging risks have been published, with a significant emphasis on the environmental risks such as climate change. From a policy perspective, addressing emerging risks requires identification and monitoring that takes into account their unique features.
