《Vol. 129》 Improving Regulatory Policies on Medical System
The medical system is facing a crisis with simultaneous occurrences of numerous problematic cases, calling it “medical crisis.” The public's trust that they can receive treatment when needed is gradually eroding. This Issue Paper discusses the focal points and solutions for improving regulatory policies on medical system from three perspectives: public medical care, medical manpower, and medical charge.
It is crucial to complement the Public Clinical Professor Pilot Program, utilize retired doctors, strengthen the regional residency training system, improve regulations for establishing local medical centers, increase the number of medical personnel in universities and establish public medical schools, improve regulations on the training system for residents, introduce measures to train the Physician Assistant (PA) system, and support public policy charge in essential medical fields and regional charge for medically vulnerable area. Immediate policy improvements are essential, given that it will take plenty of time to be implemented.
