The Korea Institute of Public Administration implemented the research project, the Global Issues for Public Administration ODA in 2023. The purpose of the research project is to take a retrospective review of Korea’s public administration ODA (Official Development Assistance) implemented so far, identify internal and external risks and emerging issues faced by Korea’s public administration ODA, and discover and provide a prospective review of future public administration ODA research fields requiring relevant entities in Korea to respond preemptively.
As the second outcome of the project, this research explores the domestic and international crises faced by Korea’s public administration ODA and identifies emerging issues, uncovering research themes that necessitate a convergent approach between specific areas within public administration ODA and other relevant fields to address such issues. In-depth interview with the representatives of international organization in the Asia-Pacific region was conducted alongside text analysis for the research. Additionally, a Delphi survey was carried out among experts in Korea’s public administration ODA. Consequentially, this research proposes integrated research themes requiring increased support and attention from a convergent perspective, as well as suggesting the potential contributions of public administration ODA to current and future crises.
