국문초록
This book is an edited version of the papers presented at the international symposium on "Korea in the Post-Development Decades: The Tasks of Public Administration and Globalization". The Keynote paper and the papers by the international scholars who participated in the conference constitute the chapters in this book.
This book is the most timely and informed collection of perspectives on the future of Korean public administration presently available. First, Korea in the ERA of Post-Development and Globalization: The Tasks of Public Administration is richly contextual. Second, the papers are strongly informed by a comparative perspective. Third, the chapters include a full treatment of the basics of public administration in Korea including explorations of the meaning of public in public administration, delineating the tasks and scope of public administration, charting the special role of public administration in the processes of change and reform, the moral basis of responsibility in public administration, and the proper role and place of bureaucratic power in democratic government. Fourth, these chapters include several considerations for the future in terms of the issues of the division of the Korean people and the possible prospects and problems associated with alternative forms of reunification or reconciliation. Finally, most these chapters deal in one form or another with issues associated with social policy and questions of human well-being.
